UTAMARO 2 (1753 - 1806)
Kitagawa Utamaro (ca. 1753 - 1806) est condidéré comme l'un des plus grands artistes
de peinture sur bois.
Il est spécifiquement connu pour ses superbes composition de femmes "bijinga".
Ses travaux furent très recherché en Europe au XIX siècle, il était très populaire
et reconnut par les impressionistes français.
Kitagawa Utamaro (ca. 1753 - 1806) is considered one of the greatest artists
of woodblock prints (ukiyo-e).
He is known especially for his masterfully composed studies of women, known as
bijinga.
His work reached Europe in the mid 19th century, where it was very popular, enjoying
particular acclaim from the French Impressionists.
